Staying safe when you buy or sell
Most deals go fine. The ones that don't tend to go wrong in the same few ways, so these are worth two minutes.
Meet in a public place, in daylight. A busy cafΓ©, a mall, a petrol pump. Never a stranger's home, and never somewhere you don't know how to leave.
Check the item completely before any money changes hands. Turn the phone on. Start the engine. Look at the papers. If the seller is rushing you past this step, that is the whole warning.
Pay only when you have the item in your hands. No advance, no token amount, no deposit "to hold it". A seller asking for money before you have seen the thing is the single most common scam on any classifieds site.
Never share an OTP. Not with a buyer, not with a seller, not with someone claiming to be from our support team. An OTP sent to your phone can only ever help someone else take something from you.
Be wary of anyone who wants to move the conversation off the site immediately, who has a story about being out of town, or who offers to send a courier with the payment. Keep the chat here β if something goes wrong, the thread is the evidence.
Trust your instincts. If a deal feels wrong, walk away. There will be another one.
